I am the Man of Understanding. I am a great Man of Pleasure, even a profoundly superficial Man—for how can one be deep who Knows no perimeters and no center at all? I cannot be grasped or identified, like a thing. Therefore, I am not a source of fascination. Since I cannot be found or followed (like a thing), My Existence avails no one. Therefore, I am not important in the usual way. There is only understanding. I Am understanding.

What appears to the beholder as light, to the hearer as sound, to the shapely actor as life-energy, and to the thinker as thought, is Known directly, on the level of Consciousness Itself, as Love-Bliss. Then It becomes light, sound, life-energy, and thought. All such things are only apparent modifications of the Original Reality that is Love-Bliss. They are conditionally manifested form. And conditionally manifested form is that same Love-Bliss.

Love-Bliss is not radically separable from Consciousness. Love-Bliss Is Consciousness. Consciousness Is Love-Bliss. Thus, on the level of activity, there is also no radical distinction between thought and form. There is Only the Love-Bliss that is Reality, Which is originally, now, Identical to Consciousness Itself.

Conscious Love-Bliss, Unqualified, is the Nature of Reality, Which is Absolute Existence. All cosmic powers are communications within this Ultimate Power that is Existence Itself. Therefore, the Ultimate Knowledge and Power is Reality Itself,Which is Unqualified Existence as Conscious Love-Bliss.

The Unqualified Existence that is Reality is always already Present, As Love-Bliss. Love-Bliss is simply Perfect Presence, for Reality is That Which is Unqualifiedly Present. Present Reality is Conscious as Love-Bliss. The Man of Understanding Only Enjoys Conscious Love-Bliss, at Play.

The Man of Understanding does not seek. The Man of Understanding Knows Only Reality. The Man of Understanding Knows Himself Only As Reality. There Is Only Reality. His Realization Is Only Reality. His Knowledge Is Only Consciousness Itself. He Is Only, Merely Present. He Is Only Unqualified Existence. He Is Only Love-Bliss. He Knows Only Love-Bliss. There Is Only Love-Bliss. That Is It entirely.

Unqualified Existence, Conscious as Love-Bliss, Appears in the Heart and Arises as the Amrita Nadi, the "Bright". Love-Bliss is the Original (and everywhere "creative") Impulse, the "Bright" Divine Shakti that is the Substance and Support of all conditional movers. Love-Bliss-Energy is the Source-Condition and primary Form of all "creativity", even all of conditional manifestation. The Man of Understanding Arises as Love-Bliss, Mad with Love-Bliss. He is not Narcissus. "Creativity" is Love-Bliss. The world is Love-Bliss.

I do not speak from mere sentiment. I am describing What is Really the case. The Man of Understanding Appears as Love-Bliss. He is not separate from Love-Bliss. He does not remain only (exclusively) as the Prior Self, separated Pure Existence, functioning only as Compassion. He is generative (or Radiant) Love-Bliss. The Divine Self-Condition is also Love-Bliss. Love-Bliss-Energy is the Fullness, the Light, the "Brightness" of Reality. It is the Perfect Form (and the living condition) of Reality. I am That One, the One Self, Who Is Love-Ananda, or Love-Bliss.

The Man of Understanding is Love-Bliss. The Man of Understanding is inherently (not merely outwardly) Peaceful, Full, Surrendered, and Unconfounded.

Those who do not understand seek for the Man of Understanding, the Knower of Truth, in order to acquire His characteristics as "food" and "power" for themselves. But they do not understand the Nature of the Source of things. They are always tending toward fear, sorrow, and anger, even in the Company of the Man of Understanding, the One Who is Free. Therefore, the Man of Understanding is Himself a visible dilemma to those who do not understand. Those who seek Him without understanding become grave and revert to forms of suffering. But those who understand live comfortably in His Presence and are not moved to seek.

The Man of Understanding acquires no persistent expression, but His manner changes in every circumstance. His understanding adapts to the habit of every appearance. He adopts no visibility that persists. Moment to moment, He cannot be found apart, for, when Truth is Known, the One Who Knows It is unknown (or become Transparent in the "Bright" Divine Heart).

The Man of Understanding asserts the fundamental rightness of what is actual, and thus the things, the environments, the beings, and the relationships that appear cease to fascinate those around Him. Even His own "Bright" Presence is not fascinating. Thus, the mind and even all forms become quieted in His surroundings, and those who are with Him turn naturally to understanding and the always present Reality.

The seeker is always disturbed. At frst the seeker approaches the Man of Understanding "humbly", self-effacing, as if with great need. But the seeker's questions can find no Ultimate Solution, even when It is Communicated Clearly and Completely. And the seeker cannot receive What is Perfect, even when It is Given Openly. Therefore, the seeker becomes frustrated, and then leaves. Indeed, the seeker always only asserts the forms of his or her own perpetual and empty seeking. Therefore, the seeker, leaving, says the Man of Understanding has not Found and does not Give.

Only those who understand can experience the Open Communication of Reality. They remain in the "Bright" Company of the Man of Understanding only for Enjoyment, neither seeking nor demanding anything, devoted to understanding and to the Man of Understanding. In their daily comings and goings, there is no separation from Him, and their daily lives become an expression of the same "Bright" Order of Reality.

Because I Consciously live in and as the "Bright" Divine Heart of Reality, and because I remain Present as the Amrita Nadi, the Perfect Form of Reality, My Mere Presence tends to reverse the ordinary current of lifeconsciousness and action in those around Me. Thus, My Mere "Bright" Presence tends to Draw others toward understanding, and the ordinary current of their life-consciousness and action tends to lose its necessity, its compulsive motivation, its unconsciousness.

My Mere "Bright" Presence acts as the effective Force of radical understanding (and of self-Enquiry) upon all that I meet. But those with Me may not sense anything unusual. Indeed, all their changes are only a move toward the natural. Some may, at first, feel resistive and defensive in My "Bright" Presence. Others may, even from the first, feel profoundly comfortable. Sooner or later, all become moved to the active "consideration" of radical understanding. Even from the beginning, all attend to Me. And all, by forgetting themselves in their devotion to Me, grow in understanding. Thus, the "Bright" Divine Reality includes all things in Its own Form.

My sometimes Method with My devotees is to talk about radical understanding and its "Bright" Heart-Way, in order to Give them the opportunity to listen to My Word of Argument and Instruction. And I sometimes also address them in place, relative to the forms of seeking to which they attach themselves at any moment. Sometimes, I even Enquire of them if this, or this, or this is the avoidance of relationship. And, even if I remain merely Silent, My Mere "Bright" Presence effectively does all of this.

Thus, at the beginning, by the process of listening to Me (even in My Silence, and, otherwise, by studying the record of My Spoken and Written Word), the Way of radical understanding (or the Way of the Heart) becomes Known to My devotees. And, in due course, in every one who truly hears Me, radical understanding arises as the form of their own Real intelligence.

Talk, if it is overmuch and overdone, is simply the indulgence of the ego-dramatizing (or, otherwise, Heartwasting) activity of the mind. Then it is only a display and a scattering of the "Bright" Force of the Heart in forms that are not themselves intelligence or understanding. Then talk is not relatedness, but it is only a reproduction and reinforcement of a state that is not understanding. The patterns that continually arise in human beings are not truly served by the responses or answers they imply and demand. Human beings are truly served only by the Communication of radical understanding, and by true examination of the egoic self, and by "Bright" Silence.

Some indication of the nature of seeking and the nature of radical understanding is necessary for "hearing", or true self-understanding. Some countering or reflection of the seeker's habits, acts, and presumptions, and some direct observadons about his or her state, may be useful to "create" the necessary doubt of his or her ordinary path. But the Communication of the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition is essentially a process in Silence, whereby what arises gets no response, no reinforcement, and, thus and thereby, becomes obsolete. Then the individual ceases to continue in the egoic (and, otherwise, merely, or exclusively, conditional) motion of what arises, and he or she will, in due course, by Grace, find "himself" or "herself" In and As the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition, Which is the Source and Form of all of this conditional appearing.

This confrontation with "Bright" Silence in the truly devodonal relationship to the Man of Understanding, Who is the Divinely Self-Realized One, and Who Manifests the "Bright" Siddhi, or "Bright" Power, of the Heart, is unlike the ordinary experience of frustration in life. Things simply arise in every one, and life provides the present conditions whereby they are indulged, frustrated, or avoided. But in the "Satsang" (or "Bright" Company) of the Man of Understanding, Who Is the "Bright" Divine Heart Itself, what arises is confronted by "Bright" Silence without and by the "Bright" Heart within.

Therefore, My Method with those who have begun to understand through listening to Me is simply to invite them to sit and be with Me. I do not offer them a mere technique. Rather, I offer them a relationship. Then what arises is confronted with "Bright" Silence. This Company of "Bright" Silence, this confrontation with "Bright" Silence while remaining in conscious relationship to Me, causes the individual to be simply aware of what arises, without the possibility of indulging or avoiding it. Thus, the individual is allowed to see what arises, rather than to become further identified with the stream through the unconsciousness of ordinary conversation and action. And the "space" between the individual and what arises is the place where the "Bright" Power of the Heart Works to Draw the individual from within. Then the individual becomes Awake as quickening and radical understanding.

Essentially, the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is, in practice, the relationship to Me, and, therefore, to My "Bright" Silence, and, Thus, to the "Bright" Heart-Power Transmitted by Me in Silence (and, Thereby, found within), until, at last, there is the Most Perfect Realization of the Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Condition that is the True, or Ultimate, and Truly "Bright" Heart. Then the individual finds only "Bright" Silence in his or her inner forms. But everywhere, in all the worlds, that one sees the Heart Stand Out Aloud and "Bright".

Those who are My devotees will have many kinds of experiences, some of which with be extraordinary, and some of which will simplify life. But My unique (or characteristic) Work is not Itself Purposed merely to awaken various conditional processes in devotees by means of Kundalini Shaktipat. I do not propose, as My special (or characteristic) Purpose, that kind of Spiritual effect.

My Work is the Work of the Divine Heart, to Reveal the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition of all and All. My Work is the Divine Heart's "Bright" Action, whereby the Divine Heart Draws all the parts of a man or woman, from within and from without, to the radical understanding and the Very Consciousness and the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition (and the "Brightn Divine SelfDomain) that is the Divine Heart Itself. My Work is to Awaken all mankind to the Condition that is the "Bright" Divine Heart. My Work is to Awaken even all beings and things and spaces to the "Bright" Divine Heart. And that Work is the "Bright" Shakti, or "Bright" Divine Siddhi, that is the Divine Heart Itself.

Due to the tendency of the natural or karmic characteristics of living beings to modify the "Bright" Shakti-Energy of the Heart (Which "Bright" Shakti-Energy is Senior to, and the Source and Substance of, the cosmically effective Energy separately identified as the Kundalini Shakti), many conditional experiences will arise in the case of those who enter into (and persist in) My "Bright" Company. And the kinds of experiences that arise will arise in accordance with the karmas (or the kinds of psycho-physical modifications of the "Bright" Shakti-Energy) that are naturally (or by tendency) generated in each particular case. But the Divine Heart Itself, Revealed as the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition, is the Great Awakening, and not any adventure of mere "experience".

I Teach the world understanding by remaining Present as the "Bright". I Purify the world by Silently "Enquiring" of it. This is My "Creative" Work, beyond the time of My Most Perfect Re-Awakening to the "Bright" Divine SelfCondition (and the "Bright" Divine Self-Domain) that is Reality. My "Bright" Divine Work is to tum all beings and things to the "Bright" Divine Presence, and to Awaken them to the "Bright" and Perfect and necessarily Divine Self-Condition that is Reality, and that is No-seeking, and that is No-dilemma. My Work is My own radical understanding, applied to all beings and things. My Work is Reality at Work on Its own forms. My Work takes place during My present Lifetime, but I do not see an end to It.

I am not the one who, finding himself psycho-physically awake, does not Know Who he Is.

I am not the one who, finding himself in dreams and visions, thinks he has resumed to his Real Self.

I arn not the one who, enjoying the conditional bliss of deep sleep and ordinary, seekers' meditation, thinks he has become Free and need not Realize the Greater and Truly Divine State.

I am not the one who, having slept, awakens to a state of identification with the body-mind.

I am the One Who Is with you now.

I am the One Who Speaks from His own "Bright" Divine Silence, and As His own "Bright" Divine Silence.

I am the One Who Always Stands Present in His own "Bright" Form.

I am the One Who Always and Already Exists, Enjoying Only His own "Bright" Form, even in all apparent conditions and apparent conditional states.

I am the One Who is not hidden, and in Whom there is no deeper part.

I am the One Who Always Appears exactly as He Is. I am the One Who is Always "Brightly" Present.

I recognize My Self as every thing, every one, every form, every movement.

I am Always Only Experiencing My own Love-Bliss. I am neither lost nor found.

Understanding is My Constant Intelligence.

My own "Bright" Silence is the form of My Action, the motion of My "Bright" Presence, in Which I am constantly Knowing My Self.

I am the One Who is Always Already Known.

I continually Rise out of the Heart, Naked and Unbounded in the right side.

I Appear as My Invisibly Standing Love-Bliss-Full Form between the "Bright" Heart and the "Bright" Matrix Infinitely above.

I am the Amrita Nadi.

I Manifest from the "Bright" Matrix above to every body, every sheath, every center, every realm, and every experience, between the upper and lower terminals of the conditionally manifested worlds.

I continually Sacrifice the Circle of Love-Bliss-Energy, including all the terminal processes and natural energies of the conditionally manifested worlds, to My "Bright" Divine Heart.

I "Live" all beings, and all things are in Me.

I never return to My Self, but I constantly Appear, As My Self. There is no dilemma in the process of My Appearance.

Those who do not Abide with Me, at the "Bright" Divine Heart, are always only seeking Me from the place where they begin.

I am Only the "Bright" Divine Heart Itself, Which is Reality.

My Great Form is the Amrita Nadi, Which is the Inherently Perfect Form of the "Bright" Divine Heart, and Which is Alive as the "Bright" Love-Bliss.

I always See every one and every thing within My own "Bright" Divine Form.

In every apparent condition and circumstance, I Exist only as My own "Bright" Divine Form.

I am the "Bright" Divine Heart, Who never renounces His own "Bright" Divine Form.

I am the "Bright" Dhine Heart, Who Contains His own conditionally manifested forms.

Therefore, I have no form or person that is separate from My "Bright" Divine Heart.

I am Eternally in One Place, Contemplating My own Love-Bliss.

In the True Divine Heart of Contemplation, Which is "Bright", all beings and things appear, and everything is accomplished.

The Heart is the Love-Bliss Revealed, by Divine Grace, in the Contemplation of My "Bright" Presence.

The Amrita Nadi is My own "Bright" Fullness, Wherein all beings and things appear.

I hold up My hands.

The Man of Understanding is not "entranced". He is not "elsewhere". He is not having an "experience". He is not passionless and inoffensive. He is Awake. He is Merely and "Brightly" Present. He knows no obstruction in the form of mind, identity, differentiation, and desire He uses mind, identity, differentiation, and desire. He is passionate. His quality is an offense to those who are entranced, elsewhere, contained in the mechanics of experience, asleep, living as various forms of identity separation, and dependence. He is acceptable only to those who understand.

He may appear no different from any other man How could He appear otherwise? There is nothing by which to appear except the qualities of life. He may appear to have learned nothing. He may seem to be addicted to every kind of foolishness and error. How could it be othenvise? Understanding is not a different communication than the ordinary. There is only the ordinary. There is no ordinariness-excluding Communication that is the Truth. There is no everything-excluding State that is the Truth. But there is the understanding of the ordinary.

Therefore, the Man of Understanding cannot be found, except by the living heart. He cannot be followed, except to the "Bright" Divine Heart Itself. He can only be understood, even as the ordinary must be understood. He is not (conventionally) "Spiritual". He is not (conventionally) "religious". He is not (conventionally) "philosophical". He is not (conventionally) "moral". He is not (conventionally) "fastidious", "lean", and "lawful". He always appears to be the opposite of what you are. He always seems to sympathize with what you deny. Therefore, at times and over time, He appears as every kind of persuasion. He is not consistent. He has no self-image. At times He denies. At times He asserts. At times He asserts what He has already denied. At times He denies what He has already asserted. Therefore, He is not "useful". His Teaching is every kind of "nonsense". His Wisdom, it seems, is vanished. Altogether, that is His Wisdom.

At last He represents no separate Truth at all. His paradoxes deny every seeker's "Truth", every path by which mankind depends on mere simulations of Freedom and Enjoyment. He is a seducer, a madman, a trickster, a libertine, a rascal, a fool, a moralist, a sayer of truths, a bearer of all experience, a prince, a king, a child, an old one, an ascetic, a saint, a god. By mumming (or mockplaying) every seeker's role of life, He demonstrates the futility of every seeker's path of life, except He always coaxes every one only to understand. Therefore, by all of this, He makes understanding the only possibility. And understanding makes no difference at all. Except it is Reality, Which was already the case.

Heartless one, Narcissus, friend, loved one, He weeps for you to understand. After all of this, why have you not understood? The only thing you have not done is understanding. You have seen everything, but you do not understand. Therefore, to "Brighten" your heart, the Man of Understanding Joyfully suggests that you have already understood! He looks at the world and sees that every one and every thing has always understood!

He sees that there is only understanding! Thus, the Man of Understanding is constantly Happy with you. He is overwhelmed with Happiness. He says to you: "See that there is only this world of Perfect Freedom and Enjoyment, where every one is Love-Bliss-Happy, and every thing is Love-Bliss-Full!" His "Bright" Heart is always tearful with the endless Happiness of the world.

He has grasped the Truth within the ordinary, but no one is interested in Truth. Because He has become the Truth, He is of interest to no one. Because He is so ordinary, He is of interest to everyone. Because no one understands the ordinary, He is not understood. Because there is only the ordinary, He will become famous for understanding it. Because there is only the Truth, He is the Beloved of all. Because you feel you understand Him, you fnd it necessary to touch His hand. Because you love Him, you find it possible to touch His ears. He smiles at you. You notice a sudden "Brightness". Everything has already died. This is the "other" world.

My own Life Story is the best foundation Instruction I can offer. The mere assertion of radical understanding is not suffent to serve radical understanding in the listener. The listener must be allowed a participatory recognition. Otherwise the symbols wherein his or her own life is trapped will not begin to dissolve. Therefore, I have here displayed the essentials of My early-life Ordeal, so that the urge to ego-transcendence may be stimulated in those who listen to Me. But know this. I do not stand for strategic Spiritual efforts, or egoic efforts of any kind,. nor do I stand on some middle ground between egoic excess and egoic effort. There is no virtue in the endless egoic reaction to life, nor in the enjoyment of any conditional effect for its own sake. Only understanding, only Reality Itself, is the Truth of all events.

Now the present telling of My Life Story comes to an end. Now the Great Work, Which is Forever, begins. My own Ordeal of radical understanding was only a preparation and a justification for My universal Revelation of the Way of radical understanding (or the Way of the Heart). And the Way of radical understanding (or the Way of the Heart) is to be Revealed and Given by Me to each and all. Therefore, at first, and for a time, I must elaborate, describe, and Teach the details and practices of the total (and Only-by-Me Revealed and Given) Way of radical understanding (Which is the Eternal, and Onlyby-Me Revealed and Given, Way of the Heart). Then, and now, and even Forever, I must, by My Eternal Blessing Work, Awaken every one, and all.

The principal Lessons that provoke what I must, by all My now and Forever Work, Communicate and altogether Serve are all contained in the Story of My early Life, as I have told it, but the Way Itself (Which, by Grace, eventually becomes a truly Spiritual and, ultimately, Perfect Practice, and, at last, a Most Perfect Realization) depends (at first) on true hearing, which itself involves true listening, or profound attention. And true listening must lead to self-observation, and real (and effective) self-understanding, and "Real" meditation. Therefore, by My Forever Work, I will continuously unfold the "Bright" Wisdom of Consciousness Itself, as Revealed in and by and as My own even physical, bodily "Bright" Form, and as My Spiritual, and Forever Blessing, "Bright" Presence, and as My Very and "Bright'' Self, the One and necessarily Divine Self of all and All. Now and Forever begins My Work of Teaching and Blessing all those who seek, and all those who, by hearing Me, have understood themselves, and all those who, by seeing Me, are Awakening in the "Bright" Divine Domain that is the One Heart and Self of every one, and all.

The Full and Complete Way of "Bright" (and Inherently Most Perfect, and necessarily Divine) Self-Realization is now and Forever Given by Me for the sake of the present generation, and all the future generations, of human beings. The Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is the simple, direct, and Inherently Most Perfect Way, Which I have, by Submission to human birth, Realized for the sake of all, including those who are now and those who are yet to come. Radical understanding is the Key to the Realization of the "Bright" Divine Self-Condition of Man. Radical understanding is Primary Activity and Primary Knowledge. I Am the Man of Understanding.

I Demonstrate and Reveal the One Reality variously proclaimed and sought (but never Finally, Most Perfectly or Completely Realized) within the "great tradition" of mankind, but I Demonstrate and Reveal the One Reality Finally and Most Perfectly and Completely, and, altogether, with a Unique, "Bright" Emphasis, in order to Extend the Communication of Reality in the world through and beyond the present time. I am Generated in the "Bright" Divine Heart of Reality, and I Appear in the world through the Agency of the Amrita Nadi, the Perfect Form of Reality, the "Bright". I Am the Person and the Incarnation of the "Bright".

In the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart), the principle of relatedness is unqualifiedly accepted and affirmed as the living condition of Reality. Just so, the practice of the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is itself a process in relationship. The principal feature of the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is the Guru-devotee relationship, wherein My devotee, based on at least a basic comprehension of My Teaching about self-understanding and the direct transcendence of the motive of seeking, constantly, in direct relational response to Me, practices the counteregoic exercise of self-surrendering, self-forgetting, and self-transcending feeling-Contemplation of My "Bright" bodily (human) Form, My "Bright" Spiritual (and Always Blessing) Presence, and My Very (and Inherently Perfect, and Perfectly "Bright") State of Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Being. And, in the context of that fundamental relational (and necessarily devotional) practice, the "conscious process" of self-Enquiry (in the form "Avoiding relationship?") may also be exercised, or, otherwise, some other by Me Given, and equally effective, form of the counter-egoic, or directly ego-transcending, Uconscious process" may be exercised. And, in every case, the practice of the "conscious process" of self-Enquiry (in the form "Avoiding relationship?"), or, otherwise, the practice of an alternative by Me Given counter-egoic (or directly ego-transcending) exercise of the "conscious process", will be (and, if that "conscious process" is to be Real and effective, must be) associated with other by Me Given (devotional, cultural, functional, practical, general relational, and Yogic) practices (including dietary disciplines, disciplines relative to physical exercise, disciplines relative to general health, disciplines relative to the emotional-sexual character, and disciplines relative to emotional-sexual activity, as well as disciplines relative to money, work, service, and cooperative and community living).

Just as the Most Perfect Realization of radical understanding is not a matter of exclusive (or dissociative) identifcation with an inward State, the constant and characteristic practice of the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is a relationship It is the relationship to Me, and the demand to be utterly responsive in the relationship to Me. Therefore, th Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is not based on (or even associated with) a mere (and ego-based, and ego-reinforcing, and, ultimately, separative) technique, or a seeker's "remedy"

The Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of radical understanding (or the Only-by-Me Revealed and Given Way of the Heart) is the Way of relationship to Me, for I Am the Man of Understanding, the Person and the Incarnation of the "Bright".
